Ashburn Girl Scouts Tour Loudoun Landfill

  • May 18, 2012

Members of Girl Scouts Daisy Troop 421 from Ashburn recently visited the Loudoun County Solid Waste Management Facility for a tour of the Loudoun County landfill. Sights on the driving tour included trash disposal operations, environmental management systems and wildlife. The Girl Scouts learned that plastic bottles are recycled into fiber which is then woven into new textiles including clothing, carpet and blankets.

The Loudoun County Solid Waste Management Facility, 21101 Evergreen Mills Road, in Leesburg and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Tours are currently being scheduled for summer and fall. Call 703-771-5514 to arrange a tour. More information about touring the landfill is online at www.loudoun.gov/landfill-tours.
