Mrs. Cathreen Vandevelde Beasley, 88, of Ashburn, and formerly of Louisville, KY, passed away Tuesday, June 05, 2012, in Leesburg, VA.

Cathreen was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Paducah, KY. She was a daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Vandevelde and the late Erma Brilla Crawley Vandevelde. Cathreen worked at the Naval Ordnance Plant as a bookkeeper for many years. She was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, until the passing of her husband, the late Ronald Louis Beasley in 2005. Cathreen took the opportunity to move to Virginia to be close to her daughter and family.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Linda Beasley Kinne and son-in-law Rick of Ashburn, VA; grandson Kevin Wade Handmaker of Leesburg, VA; and great granddaughter Kaitlyn Belle Handmaker. She also leaves her brother Charles Edward Vandevelde and sister-in-law Patricia of Naples, FL.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three siblings, Paul Bernard Vandevelde, Erma Pauline Riggle and Mary Loueva Fielding.

Visitations were held June 7 at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Leesburg and June 10 at South Louisville Joseph E. Ratterman & Son in Louisville, KY. A Funeral Mass was held June 11 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Louisville. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville.
