  • Deceased's name: Doris Marie Murray Bryant

Doris Marie Murray Bryant, departed in peace at the Capital Care Memorial Hospice early Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, in Arlington, VA. We loved her, but God loved her best and took her to an eternal home in Glory.

Doris was born May 29, 1943, in Leesburg, VA, to the late Arthur Lloyd and Bertha Virginia Murray. She is the great-grandchild of Rev. “Bush” Bushrod Murray, of Gleedsville, VA. She was sixth-oldest of nine children. She was predeceased by two brothers: Late Richard L. Murray (Late Sarah) and Late James A. Murray (Evelyn); one sister: Late Betty Smith (William); five sisters: B. Virginia McCorn (and Virgil), of Alexandria, VA, Deaconess Shirley Seay (and Deacon Roger), of Manassas, VA, Helen L. Cook (and Franklin R.), of Sterling, VA, Mary E. Tibbs (and Late Thomas), of Manassas, VA, and Deaconess Peggy A. Washington (and Rev. Earl Washington Sr.), of Falls Church, VA.

She married the late Sgt Harland Bryant Jr. and from that union, a devoted mother and grandmother, she leaves behind to cherish her memory two beautiful daughters: Carol Bryant-Rogers, of Woodbridge, VA, and Sheila Bryant-Neal (and David Neal), of Woodbridge, VA; three grandchildren: Charlene, David and Rachael; four great-grandchildren: Tenasia, Shaniya, Jayden and Zion; sisters-in-law: Sister Bernice Campbell, of Leesburg, VA; Sister Evelyn Bryant, of Leesburg, VA; brother-in-law Franklin Bryant, of Fairfax, VA; one aunt, Evelyn E. Elliott, of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

At an early age, Doris accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and joined the Mt. Olive Methodist Church in Gleedsville, VA, where her great-grandfather Rev. Bushrod Murray, Teacher/Preacher, designed and helped build the church. She continued to worship and travel with sisters to church. She stated, "I loved the Lord with all my heart." She enjoyed listening to gospel music and would share gospel songs with her sisters.

She loved "Family Gatherings" especially being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doris attended Douglas High School in Leesburg, VA. And continued her studies to become a certified bookkeeper/accountant. Doris was very talented in her work as manager of Cinderella Drycleaner; a

seamstress/home decorator at an upholstery and drapery business in Falls Church and a cashier for a grocery store for more than 20 years.

She retired when her husband’s health needed her at home. She loved to encourage and help others in their careers and employment. Doris was loved by her immediate family, siblings and host of friends, where she truly will be missed until we all will meet again.

Services were held Dec. 4.
