John M. Christos, 83, of Sterling, VA, since 1985 died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, in Leesburg, VA. Mr. Christos was born April 17, 1929, in Ashtabula, OH, to the late Michael and Katherine Kokinakis Christos.

He was raised in Astoria, NY, and graduated St. John’s College with a biology degree in 1952. Shortly after graduating he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Mr. Christos settled back in Flushing, NY, and worked as a production manager for several manufacturing companies in the area. He moved to Sterling in 1985 and worked a few more years as a security officer with Hughes Aircraft in Reston, VA, before retiring in 1995.

Mr. Christos is survived by his brother: Nicholas Christos (Hilda) of Ashburn, VA; a sister: Stassy Vogel (Phillip) of Hudson, FL.; three nephews; a niece; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Greek Orthodox Parish of Loudoun County, 21580 Atlantic Blvd., Building D, Unit 160, in Dulles, VA. Services begin at 10:30 a.m. with Father George Alexson officiating. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church or the American Lung Association.
