Lisa Granfield Soong, 47, passed away on May 31, 2012, at her home in Ashburn, VA, surrounded by her family. Lisa was born May 4, 1965, in San Diego and grew up in Chapel Hill, NC. She was the daughter of Martha Propst, of Morganton, NC, and John Granfield of San Francisco, deceased. Lisa was married to her beloved husband, Chris Soong, of McLean, in November 2000. Lisa was a 1987 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she majored in communications. For the past nine years Lisa raised and adored her children, Sabine Soong (9) and Christopher Soong (7).

Lisa is survived by her mother; her aunts, Sarah Cash of Morganton, NC, and Carole Propst of Southport, NC; her cousins, James Propst of Southport, NC, and Dewey Propst of Marion, SC; and her husband and children.

Lisa enjoyed her ultimate goal of being an active mother and wife until ten months ago when she was diagnosed with cancer. Hundreds of family members, life-long friends and a wide community of devoted neighbors, church joined her in the fight; a testament to her loving spirit.

A service in celebration of Lisa’s life was held June 3 at Arcola United Methodist Church in Dulles, VA.
