Loudoun Little League All Stars Place 2nd at State Championship

The 10/11 Loudoun Girls Little League Softball District 16 Champion All Stars team took 2nd place in the Little League State Tournament this week in Lebanon, VA.
LGLLS President Chuck Meyer stated "This is tremendous for LGLLS. These girls have shown that our Little League Softball program is building the players that we will be watching in the high schools in a few short years." Team Manager Tony Wools commented "These girls have achieved what only a few athletes get to experience. This was their Olympics."
Tournament Recap
The 10/11 All Stars played on Friday and won their first round game against Great Falls 7-4. This is the first state win at the 10/11 level for LGLLS! Congratulations to the players and coaches.
The team advanced to the second round and played Sunday against Tuckahoe. In the game, LGLLS lost 9-5 in a extremely tight game with just a few plays creating the margin of victory for Tuckahoe.
In their first elimination game Sunday night, the LGLLS girls responded and beat Louisa 20-1.
On Monday, LGLLS had a rematch with Great Falls and won 10-0, in four innings.
Tuesday, LGLLS played Washington County and won 7-2. On Wednesday, they competed in a rematch against Tuckahoe and fell to the team outside Richmond 6-1. Despite the loss, the team finished the tournment with a record of 4-2, giving LGLLS its most success finishing as the State Champion Runner-up. For the tournament, LGLLS outscored their opponents 50-22.
The LGLLS family is very proud of these young women and the success they have enjoyed. Congratulations!
LGLLS will be hosting the 2013 State Championship Tournament for 11/12 year olds, where it is expected many from this years' team will compete. The games will be held at Freedom Park in Leesburg.
