Sanford Hawkes Gulick, 65, of Leesburg, died suddenly June 19, 2012, as a result of an equipment accident.

Sanford was born Aug. 7, 1946, in Leesburg, and was a son of the late Milton Hutchison Gulick and Anna Asenath Ayres.

Sandy lived all of his life in Loudoun County and was the owner and operator of Gulick Excavating Inc.

He was in the United States Army, serving Korea and Vietnam.

Sandy is survived by his wife Aiping Yuan of Leesburg, VA; former wife Madelynn Gulick of Aldie, VA; four children: Deborah Lloyd of Ashburn, VA, Karen Dendler of Prince George, VA, Michael Gulick of Aldie, and Mary Elizabeth Gulick of Norfolk, VA; and one step-daughter: Mengtian Hei of Kaiteng, China.

Sandy is also survived by his brother Milton Gulick of Aldie, sister Mary Gulick Beach of Aldie, four grandsons and one granddaughter.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE, Leesburg, VA.

Funeral services were held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 with the Reverend John Sheehan of The Church of Our Redeemer, Aldie, VA, officiating.

Interment was held in Leesburg Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
