Ashburn Crime Report: Vehicles Remain Targets
Larceny and tampering incidents continue to dominate the reported criminal activity in the community.
Unlawful Entry
A resident of the 20600 block of Exchange Street in One Loudoun reported than an unknown person entered the home between 10:55 a.m. Jan. 30 and 9 p.m. Jan. 31. Nothing was reported missing.
Larceny
- Credit cars and cash were reported taken from a wallet in an unlocked vehicle on the 21000 block of Lemon Springs Terrace in Ashburn Village between 9:30 p.m. Feb. 1 and 12:30 a.m. Feb. 2
- A resident discovered credit cards missing from a vehicle on the 43700 block of Clemens Terrace in Ashburn Farm after being notified around 12:30 p.m. Feb. 2 that the person’s credit cards had been used improperly.
- Cash and credit cards were reported taken from a vehicle on the 20600 block of Breeders Run in Belmont Ridge between 11:30 p.m. Feb. 3 and 7:30 a.m. Feb. 4.
- Change was reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 42800 block of Genuine Reward Court in Belmont Ridge between 3 a.m. an 11 a.m. Feb. 4.
- A GPS device was reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 42800 block of Bittner Square between 6 p.m. Feb. 3 and 6 a.m. Feb. 4.
- Cash was reported taken from a wallet in an unlocked vehicle parked in an open garage on the 42800 block of Early Light Place between 6 p.m. Feb. 3 and 6 a.m. Feb. 4.
- A digital camera was reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 21100 block of Wildflower Square between 1 p.m. Feb. 4 and 8:30 a.m. Feb. 5.
- Change was reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 21100 block of Crocus Terrace between 10 p.m. Feb. 4 and 8 a.m. Feb. 5.
- Change and a personal document was reported taken from a vehicle on the 21300 block of Marsh Creek Drive in Broadlands between 3 p.m. Feb. 4 and 6:15 p.m. Feb. 5.
- Clothing, a GPS device, an iPod and accessories were reported taken from a vehicle on the 22300 block of Dolomite Hills Drive between 6 p.m. Feb. 1 and 8 a.m. Feb. 4.
- And iPod and flashlight were reported taken from a vehicle on the 22400 block of Forest Manor Drive between midnight and 5 a.m. Feb. 4
- Cash was reported taken from a vehicle on the 42700 block of Wilmar Square between 6 p.m. Feb. 2 and 6 a.m. Feb. 4.
- An iPod was reported taken from a vehicle on the 20900 block of Duryea Terrace between 8 p.m. Feb. 1 and 7 a.m. Feb. 2.
Tampering
Residents reported that vehicles were entered and the following places and times, but that nothing was taken.
- 22400 block of Forest Manor Drive between 7:15 p.m. and 7:15 a.m.
- 20700 block of Cross Timber Drive between 7 p.m. Feb. 3 and 8:40 a.m. Feb. 4
- 20700 block of Cross Timber Drive between 5 p.m. Feb. 3 and 10 a.m. Feb. 4.
- 21100 block of Crocus Terrace between 4:30 p.m. Feb. 4 and 7:30 a.m. Feb. 5.
- 43700 block of Crane Court between 10:15 p.m. Feb. 1 and 6:15 p.m. Feb. 2
- 42800 block Bittner Square between 9 p.m. Feb. 3 and 9 a.m. Feb. 4
- 20100 block of Cripple Creek Square between 9 p.m. Feb. 5 and 7:30 a.m. Feb. 6
- 43700 block of Laburnum Square between 10 p.m. Feb. 4 and 3 p.m. Feb. 5
- 42800 block of Ravenglass Drive between 5 p.m. Feb. 3 and 7:45 a.m. Feb. 4.
- 42800 block of Braemount Circle between 5 p.m. Feb. 3 and 8:32 a.m. Feb 4.22300 block of Dolomite Hills Drive between 5 p.m. Feb. 3 and 9:27 a.m. Feb. 4.

WHY? Why are people leaving wallets with credit cards in locked and UNlocked cars? That's just asking for it. I don't leave anything in my car that's of value.

I don't get why people don't LOCK their cars period. I lock mine even if I'm just stopping back by my house for 5 minutes and it's parked in my driveway. It's habit, just like putting on a seatbelt.
