Ashburn Hooks Ford's Fish House

New seafood restaurant widens fare available in Ashburn

Ashburn residents looking for mouth-watering New England-style seafood will soon find a haven for it. Ford's Fish Shack opens Sept. 27 in the Cameron Chase Shopping Center on Ice Rink Plaza.

Reminiscent of a casual Maine lobster shack, the thoughtfully implemented décor transcends other restaurants' of this type. With its authentic lobster traps, buoys and magnificent coastal Maine mural by artist Michelle Sommers, diners just may feel like they are in another place altogether.

Ford's menu focuses on underserved elements of the seafood market. Imagine shrimp, mussels, oysters on the half shell, a lobster roll, fried whole belly clams, fresh fish, a tuna burger or fish and chips on your palate. Ford's serves an array of tastes. For non-seafood lovers, great burger, steak and chicken options fill out the menu.  The dessert menu features Maine classics: blueberry cobbler, banana pudding, root beer floats and whoopie pie of the day.

And any Ashburn parent knows how important it is for a restaurant in this community to be kid-friendly.  Ford's plans to be family-oriented, offering a high-quality kids menu designed to please parents and kids alike.

Owners Tony and Ana Stafford, with 27 years combined restaurant experience, are first time restaurateurs.  They are well aware of the failures of the two previous restaurants that once inhabited the same end unit, but are planning an aggressive grassroots marketing campaign to overcome any negative perceptions residents may have about the location.

"We plan to be very involved in the community and present in the restaurant every day," Tony Stafford said.

Considering that Stafford is also the chef at Ford's Fish Shack, you can count on that.

The restaurant's hours will be Monday through Thursday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Friday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The bar will remain open one hour after the restaurant closes each night.  Takeout will also be available for lunch and dinner.
