Ashburn Teacher Charged with Drunk in Public at School
The Creighton's Corner educator and Leesburg resident was on school property at the time.
A Leesburg woman who teaches at Creighton’s Corner Elementary School was charged with being drunk in public at the school Wednesday, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. A school employee who believed the teacher to be under the influence of alcohol alerted the Sheriff’s Office and a school resource officer responded around 1 p.m. yesterday, June 1.
After investigation, the deputy charged Laura Ann Collins, 43, with the offense. Collins’ name was not listed in the Creighton’s Corner staff directory as of 8:45 a.m. June 2.
"Mrs. Collins was in a training session Wednesday and did not interact with students," said Loudoun County Public Information Officer Wayde Byard, pointing out that a member of the school system initiated the complaint. "Her status is pending at the moment."
