Ashburn Villagefest Opens Friday

Weekend of Family Fun Celebrates Sports Pavilion's Anniversary

 

Ashburn Villagefest kicks off its two-day event this year on Friday, Oct. 1, with and entertainment for the entire family at the Ashburn Village Sports Pavilion. This year, the pavilion celebrates its 20th anniversary with rides, games, music, a rock climbing wall and more.

Pavilion manager Marco Chavez described the festival as "very kid-friendly, a family event."

"It's the annual celebration of our opening," Chavez explained. "We'll have all sorts of carnival rides, games, music ... and the beer garden for adults."

The festival starts at 6:00pm Friday with the band Suburban Rush taking the stage at 7:30pm. The event runs Friday and Saturday, with a rain date set for, Sunday, Oct. 3.  

Activities begin Saturday at 11:00am, with everything from dancing acts and children's comedy to acrobats and jugglers. On the music stage Saturday, indie rock band Chasing Arrows, a regular since 2005, starts at 5:00pm followed at 7:00pm by The Reflex, which calls itself the ultimate '80s tribute band.

Chavez said around 5,000 people generally show up for the event, which is open to the public.

There are several options to purchase tickets for the carnival rides, which a Ferris wheel and carousel. Wristbands can be purchased for unlimited riding or purchased in groups of five. For more information, see our event listing below or visit the pavilion Web site.
