Broad Run Helps Wounded Warrior Project
DECA holds "Salute Our Soldiers" event to help injured service members
Broad Run High School DECA has planned its first annual community fundraiser, Salute Our Soldiers, to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. The event will take place on the Spartan's home field during the Oct. 29 football game against the Potomac Falls Panthers. Community members and military personnel are encouraged to come out for a great game to support a worthy cause. All military members in uniform or with an ID will receive free admission to the game. Regular admission is $5.
All proceeds from Salute Our Soldiers will go to the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that provides programs and services to assist injured service members.
Salute Our Soldiers camouflage shirts will be sold at the game as well as throughout the week at Broad Run High School and Farmwell Station Middle School. Broad Run is encouraging everyone to camouflage-out the stadium to show their support. Raffle tickets, baked goods and other items will also be sold at the game in order to support the cause.
There will be an assortment of fun activities and various vendors for the entire family to enjoy. DECA students hope to raise $5,000 for this important cause and need the support of the entire community to reach this goal.
Prior to the football game, the community will rally together for the WWP at a pre-game tailgate in the Broad Run parking lot. The tailgate will include food vendors and a local band, A+ Drop Outs. Boxer, from the WMZQ radio station, will emcee a portion of the event.
The campaign will also include activities for students throughout the week leading up to the Salute Our Soldiers football game. Broad Run DECA members will be raising awareness for the cause by promoting t-shirt sales, distributing related information, hosting guest speakers and more.
Community sponsors include: The Payne Family, Glory Days, Regal Cinemas, Georgetown Cupcake, Sport and Health, Image Sun Tanning, and more!
