Someone who bought a Powerball ticket at the Sheetz on Edwards Ferry Road in Leesburg is the, perhaps unwitting, winner of $1 million prize, according to the Virginia Lottery.
The winning numbers were 3-7-21-44-53, with and Powerball number 16. This ticket matched the first five numbers and missed only the Powerball number.
The owner of the winning ticket has 180 days from the drawing date to claim the prize. The Virginia Lottery advises the winner to immediately sign the back of the ticket to establish ownership before doing anything else. When ready to claim prize, the winner should contact the Virginia Lottery at 703-494-1501 or 804-692-7000.
On February 14, the Virginia Lottery awarded a $217 million Powerball jackpot to Dave and Nancy Honeywell of Fredericksburg. The Leesburg prize marks the tenth $1 million Powerball winner in Virginia since Nov. 24.
Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays, and broadcast on TV across Virginia, live on www.valottery.com and on the Lottery’s Facebook page. For more information on Powerball, visit www.powerball.com.
