Food Festival Brings Smiles to Ashburn
Rides and games offer fun and a chance to learn about some of the area's newest restaurants.
Seeming to have sprung up from thin air, the Ashburn Food Festival delivered fun to Ashburn this week and continues through Saturday.
"I didn't know about the festival until I read about it on Facebook," said Caroline Brescia, who took her four children to the fair Wednesday night.
Cole Rides is providing the carnival rides, games and fair food, while the businesses at Ashburn Restaurant Park showcase their food and hand out freebies.
Ashburn Restaurant Park’s landlord Terry Pao conceived the festival as a way to help promote the tenants of that site, which popped up just as the economy began to slump. Several restaurants have struggled and closed since the strip opened, but now there are many new and varied options for Ashburn residents.
"We want people to know that we are here," said Pizza Go Round owner Azmi Zarou. [Editor's note: Patch will feature Pizza Go Round is a story next week.]
The festival runs through today from noon to 10 p.m. Admission is free however tickets must be purchased for rides and games. All restaurants will be open during the festival and welcome festival patrons to check out what they have to offer.
