A Loudoun County Circuit Court judge sentenced imposed a suspended sentence on an 18^th Street gang member after finding the man had violated the terms of his probation.

Judge James H. Chamblin ordered Jimmy Joel DeLeon, 24, to serve four years of a suspended sentence because of assault and drunk in public charges he received within four months of his release from prison.

DeLeon initially was arrested following a June 2009 incident in which he pleaded guilty to felony gang participation, misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor destruction of property, according to a press release from the Loudoun Commonwealth Attorney’s Office. DeLeon was sentenced in March 2010 to two years in prison, along with four years suspended if he maintained good behavior, did not communicate with gang members and paid restitution.

“Our community and our Courts have shown little tolerance for violent gang members,” stated Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Plowman in the release. “The inability to remain of good behavior while on probation for more than a four month period further justifies the decision made by the court to revoke the balance of his time.”
