Leesburg's MLK Jr. March Set for Monday

Annual parade through the town commemorates civil rights leader.

On Monday, the 21st annual march and celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday returns to Leesburg, starting at 10:30 a.m.

The march will begin at the Loudoun County Courthouse and follow Market Street east to the Douglass Community Center at 407 E. Market St.

Traditionally community groups walk carrying banners and signs to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The theme this year is “Moving Forward with the Dream for All”.

A program will follow at the Douglass Community Center. The keynote speaker for the celebration is Deborah L. Parker of Leesburg, an inspirational speaker and author.

There will also be a food drive to benefit Loudoun Interfaith Relief.  Attendees at the event are encouraged to bring nonperishable canned goods to the Douglass Community Center.
