Loudoun Charter School Bid Fails
In an 8-1 vote Tuesday, the Math & IT Academy lost its bid to open in the county.
The proposal to build a charter school in Loudoun County failed to win the support of the Loudoun School Board Tuesday on an 8-1 vote. Only Bill Fox (Leesburg) voted against the motion to deny the application to construct the Loudoun Math & IT Academy.
The proposal became somewhat controversial after opposition turned back some initial supporters. The school board received letters from Loudoun Supervisor Geary Higgins (R-Catoctin) and state Sen. Dick Black (R-13) withdrawing support for the charter school.
The school system had a page dedicated to the proposal.
