LTE: Group Denies 'Attacking' Reid
In letter critical of Reid, the leader of Loudoun Opt Out says the Leesburg supervisor 'betrayed his friends.'
Dear Editor,
Leesburg Supervisor Ken Reid, as many know, voted to opt in to Metro despite a decade-long career of advocating against it. Ken justifies this last minute flip with confusing doubletalk that maintains his opposition to the project and support of it in back-to-back sentences. Ken does have both bases covered in the event of success or failure. Ken’s recent constituent email said this, “Although I was a staunch critic of the project, and am still quite skeptical of its benefits ... ”
In this same mass email, Ken Reid stooped to a new low. After having betrayed his friends in the Opt Out group, whom he worked with for months to educate the public before he flipped to vote Loudoun into Metro, Ken is now using nonsensical claims that these grassroots consumer advocates are attacking him. Why would Ken betray his friends and constituents a second time? Probably for the same reason he did it the first time, MONEY. Ken is pretending that the respectable Loudoun residents that he worked with are after him and that he needs to raise money to defend himself. This is a disgusting lie and is an insult to the people of Leesburg whom Mr. Reid supposedly represents.
Ken is asking for sympathy letters to the editor in his behalf. I suggest people use their letters to instead ask these very crucial questions. Those who will profit will pay, they say.
- If the Williams Purple Tax District is going to pay all Metro costs, why cap it at 20 cents/$100?
- Will you collect money from the Williams Purple Tax District to pay for the roads and schools and utilities that will come with the Metro-related development?
- If you decide to cut the school budget to help pay for Metro, do you really think money spent on the Metro black hole is good for your people in Leesburg?
- If/when the Williams Purple Tax District under-produces, will you support a tax on businesses countywide?
Ken, the new Opt Out is here to stay. If the Opt Out Group had not stirred awareness of this Metro scheme, the taxpayers would probably be paying 100 percent.
Now we are demanding that supervisors opt out of the optional yearly payments to Metro and the endless Metro taxes that Ken himself has said over and over again are unavoidable.

Actually, you have attacked him relentlessly and viciously. I saw the cartoon of "the lemming's lemming" leaping off a cliff with a noose around it's neck in one hand, and pointing a gun into its mouth with the other, but as has become your habit, when you DO something stupid, vicious and ugly and people call you out on it, you remove it from your website and then claim fatuously that it was never there. You and Mr. Grigsby both have this habit.
I saw the pictures of Reid compared to Benedict Arnold, and the vicious ridicule of him for daring to march in the Fourth of July parade in his own district, which are also gone now.
How foolish is it for someone with a business to create the internet presence you have for yourself? Even your habit of removing offensive material after someone calls out your latest temper tantrum doesn't mean it's gone forever.
You don't live in Leesburg, and neither do some of your partners in crime (and I mean your fraudulent pretension that you are a county agency in spamming your disinformation throughout this campaign), so if you want to vote against Ken you might wish to consider moving into that district, instead of telling him to move out of the county (gone now too) for daring to disobey your plastic pig.

Barbara, and Mojo, you are a couple of long winded critic. Do you ever verify your rambling claims or do you just take a guess and hope no one questions you? That is a cute picture you posted below and quite fitting to depict a guy like Ken Reid who has chosen to throw away his political career. As to being a threat, only a whimpy whiner like you two or your bud Kenedict would dream that nonsense up. Sorry you guys can't do any better than wish you were the tax pig and follow him around trying to undermine the great progress the Opt Out Group has made. There are doers and there are long-winded critics. Hang in there...maybe some day you can graduate girls, :)

TP, "I know you are but what am I" is right up there with the rest of the juvenile stunts. It's only cute in angry act-out land, when applied to a real person it's just angry and ugly. No one has to follow you around--you're doing fine drumming your heels and shrieking in every public place you can manage. You may wish to evaluate what you're "doing": it didn't get you the votes you wanted, and it isn't laying inspiring groundwork for the Cuccinelli campaign either.

Here is a link to the image you used to host on your website, referring to Reid:

I'd say it depicts excessively violent suicide.

Pig, you did attack Mr. Reid. You continue to attack Mr. Reid. I heard about the image Barbara posted, and I cannot honestly believe, seeing it now, that was anything more than a direct attack, if not a threat. Perhaps Mr. Reid is wisely distancing himself from you, from your violent "campaign" and the whole "Opt-Out" way of thinking simply based on your actions. I certainly can't blame him. Bats**t crazy is the best way I can describe your actions.

Go Metro. I am so glad that the BOS made a decision that will help traffic and commuters. I, for one, am willing to pay a few more cents each year in taxes to help it get off the ground.

It's quite a bit more than a few cents Jason. No reason to get antiquated with the facts now I suppose, since you'll get your shiny train to nowhere.

Mr. Miller, we can probably thank the core of OptOut for the dissolution of LEC; some in Opt were also the Stockman campaign in the Republican primary process last year, and in an effort to create a current presence on the political landscape for their candidate, transferred (without asking) LEC's body of work to Mr. Stockman.
The same core group including Mr. LaRock campaigned against David Ramadan in the primary process for delegate by calling him a member of Hezbollah, who would institute sharia law in Richmond with his buckets of terrorist cash.
They've been here for some time, they haven't gone away, their tactics do not change, and I've no doubt they will continue.

Much as I hate to stoop to puns that require a choice of spelling, I believe Ms. Munsey is saying that "Opt Out" is really just old whine in new bottles.
If so, I agree.

Personally. I don't live in Reid's district, I have an even worse rep (Buona). I plan on donating funds, and some of my time to whomever runs against these RINO's in the next primary. I don't think many taxpayers will forget the legacy that these 'conservatives' are building.
