Oatlands Hosts 13th Annual Art Exhibit
The historic Carriage House at the plantation displays a variety of artwork from many local artists.
The features 153 pieces of art work from 65 various artists. Entries into the art show chose one of five categories: photography, pastels, paintings, watercolor or barns.
The Best in Show winner was a breath-taking painting of the Georgetown skyline by Meredith Hannon. While the majority of pieces depict scenes of the grounds at Oatlands and the surrounding area, all entries are welcomed. This years jury consisted of Judith Thompson and Cindy Bridgman of ArtSquare in Leesburg.
Carolyn McCarthy, Director of Operations, says approximately 20 percent of the pieces have sold. She would be thrilled to have half of the pieces sold by the end of July. All pieces are on sale to the public through July 31st. All profits from the art sale benefit Oatlands Inc., a nonprofit organization that maintains the exhibits and educates the public about the historical significance of the Oatlands Plantation.
