Readers' Choice: Worst Intersection in Loudoun County
Let us know which intersection you despise the most.
Update: You nominated the worst intersections in Loudoun County, and now the voting round of Patch's Readers' Choice 2012 begins.
Cast a vote to help crown a winner. Voting continues through 11:59 p.m. Aug. 17. Only one vote per user — tell your friends and family to log on to pick their favorite, too!
Original: Sometimes, you can't please everyone and unfortunately people begin to talk ... and complain.
That being said, Patch wants to know where the worst intersection is in Loudoun County. Nominate the location that you think should be crowned Patch’s Readers’ Choice Worst Intersection in Loudoun County in the comments section below.
We’ll keep accepting nominations through July 9. After that, nominations will be closed and we’ll start the voting, so make sure to get in your suggestions now.
All you need to do to nominate a bad intersection is to add it in the comments below. If you already see that intersection listed below, make sure to add your comment about why it should be included, because we may not be able to add all recommendations to our poll and we want to make sure the top ones make it into the poll.
Check out the other Readers’ Choice categories in Ashburn Patch and Leesburg Patch, too.
Thanks in advance for your participation.
And don’t forget to sign up for the Ashburn Patch Newsletter or the Leesburg Patch Newsletter to find out when voting starts so you vote for your least favorite intersection and see if everyone agrees.

amen. if for no other reason than the number of idiots I see turning left from the *cement-divided* no-left-hand-turn lanes.

Waxpool and the light near Wegmans. It definitely takes a few lights to finally be able to turn right onto Waxpool.

Interesting, that ALL of the nomintations come from the Eastern part of the county. Perhaps all the building, despite being planned and zoned, is not all that it's cracked up to be. Anymore development in Loco, should be closely scrutinized in the planning stages, and perhaps we won't have anymore "worst intersections". But probably not.

First, what exactly were the guidelines for "worst" intersections? Sitting through a traffic light repeatedly - are you kidding???? I hear Worst Intersection, I'm thinking highest number of fatalities, highest number of accidents, highest number of pedestrian deaths due to traffic failing to yield, but certainly not having to sit through a light 3 or 4 sequences. You want worst, how about Sycolin Road and 7/15 bypass where not only are there regular accidents and traffic congestion, but you have constant red light runners, drivers using a a shoulder as an extra turn lane, a turn light that is not synchronized with it's opposite so drivers get pulled over for running a red when they still had a green and a cop saw a red on the other turn light.
Or how about Route 606/Old Ox & any of it's intersections from the toll road to Evergreen Mill Road? Dumptruck traffic due to airport work at 606 and Quicksilver Drive have made that intersection almost deadly with a bad accident at least once a month. Or Route 7/East Market Street during Rush Hour at Plaza Street and Fort Evans RD SE where traffic congestion and a constant stream of red light runners greatly put cross traffic and pedestrians in extreme danger?
Those of you using the context of sitting at a light forever as your sole reason for voting an intersection the worst need to be patient behind the wheel because it's the driver that doesn't want to sit through another red light that often runs one - not that you do.

amen. sure, red lights are annoying - but they can be tweaked with software. it's no coincidence, though, that the red light most people are complaining about is also one of the most dangerous intersections. That same intersection is usually flagged as one of the most accident prone intesections in loudoun - in part because no one has a clue how it works. unless you travel it frequently, figuring out which exit places you where with respect to turning is nigh impossible. you're almost guaranteed to have to go turn the wrong way somewhere, come back and make another pass from a different direction.
and that's if you're not being an idiot who just decides to make the turn they want from where they are.
