FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK
• INSECT SOUP: BUG POEMS WITH BARRY LOUIS POLISAR
Where/When: Ashburn Library on Monday, June 20, at 7 p.m. and Cascades Library on Monday, June 20 at 2:30 p.m.
Why Go: Enjoy songs, stories and poetry with Barry Louis Polisar, author of Insect Soup and five-time winner of the Parents’ Choice Award. Parents and kids of all ages will have a wonderful laugh.

• SUMMER KICK-OFF CONCERT BY TEEN BAND, DISENGAGE
Where/When: Rust Library in Leesburg on Monday, June 20, at 7 p.m.
Why Go: Get your teenagers off the couch and dancing to music. Local band Disengage will kick off the Loudoun County Public Library Teen Summer Reading Program with a live concert at the library. See them free while you still can!

• REGAL SUMMER MOVIE EXPRESS
Where/When: Regal Fox Stadium Cinemas in Ashburn on Tuesday, June 21, and Wednesday, June 22, at 10 a.m.
Why Go: Need a stress-free, inexpensive indoor activity for the kids now that school is out? Head to Brambleton for a kid-friendly movie. Tuesday’s showing is Astro Boy; Wednesday’s showing will be Megamind.

• THE MANY VOICES AND MANY STORIES OF PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEERS
Where/When: Ashburn Library on Thursday, June 23, at 7 p.m.
Why Go: Learn about life in the Ukraine from a Peace Corps volunteer. Kids aged 6 and older will enjoy learning Ukrainian words and culture.

• SHARK TALES
Where/When: Ashburn Library on Friday, June 24, at 1 p.m.
Why Go: Take your kids, ages 5 to 7, to listen to a Hawaiian folk tale. They’ll also get to make a shark tooth necklace.
