The Little Gym of Ashburn has planned a back-to-school shoe collection event from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, to help Soles4Souls collect one million shoes for children in need throughout the world. The Little Gym in Ashburn will give $20 off tuition for those who attend the event and donate a pair of shoes.

Donation boxes for the “BIG Hearts, Little Shoes” initiative will remain at The Little Gym of Ashburn until February.

Throughout the 2012-2013 school year, Ashburn-area children and parents will be asked to donate shoes they have outgrown or no longer need. More than 99% of the shoes donated are used to help those in need, while the remaining shoes that cannot be used are directed to a waste-to-energy facility to produce environmentally clean and renewable energy.
