Student Driver Strikes Ashburn Children, One Victim Critical
Tragic accident in Brambleton impacts two Loudoun families.
UPDATE 9:15 p.m.
A student driver receiving lessons from a parent struck three Ashburn girls, ages 7, 8 and 11, around 6:45 p.m. Thursday, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed.
A 15-year-old female driver was traveling along Morven Woods Court in Brambleton and receiving a driving lesson from her father, according LCSO spokeswoman Liz Mills, when the vehicle jumped a curb onto the sidewalk and driveway area where the girls were playing. Investigators believe the driver accelerated unintentionally.
All three children were taken to local hospitals. The 7-year-old was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital where she is being treated for life-threatening injuries, according to Mills. The two other children were taken to the Lansdowne Campus of Inova Hospital where they are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.

Three Ashburn girls between the ages of 7 and 11 were struck by a vehicle just before 7 p.m. tonight, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed.
According to LCSO spokeswoman Liz Mills, one of the girls is in critical but stable condition after being flown to Inova Lansdowne Hospital.
Mills said the incident involved a 15-year-old driver receiving driving lessons from her father.
