U.S. Army Presents Alex Carter with All-American Jersey
Selection to game has served as national debut for multiple college, NFL stars.
The 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour rolled through Ashburn Thursday to visit U.S. Army All-American Bowl pick and Briar Woods High School standout Alex Carter.
The high school made a party of the occasion with a ceremony in the auditorium in which Carter received his No. 12 All-American Bowl Jersey for the game. Teammates, classmates, fans, family and school faculty joined the ceremony.
One physical education teacher comments to another faculty member that she hoped to snag Carter autograph before he graduates.
Five U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour teams will log 30,000 miles traveling across the country to announce the 90 football players and 125 marching musicians selected to participate in the All-American Bowl.
For more than 11 years, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl has been the nation’s premier high school football game, serving as the launching pad for America’s future college and NFL stars. Adrian Peterson, Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, Ndamukong Suh, Marcus Lattimore and Andrew Luck all made national debuts as U.S. Army All-Americans. The 2011 bowl drew a crowd of nearly 38,000 to the Alamodome, and was the most-watched sporting event on television over that weekend, excluding the NFL playoffs.
The 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl will be televised live on NBC, from the Alamodome starting at noon on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012.
