    The Arcola Pleasant Valley Fire and Rescue, Company 9 is a volunteer fire department that has been serving the areaMore since 1957. This station provides the community with fire protection, fire suppression, public education and emergency medical services. Volunteer firefighters are able to respond to emergency calls here and are all fully trained and equipped to aid in emergency situations. The station is always looking for new volunteers and those interested should stop by an informational volunteer session held at the station's banquet hall. A schedule of sessions can be viewed online using the website.

Volunteers built, own and still operate the station, which still relies on donations to function. Career firefighters, hired by the county, help man the station during the week. The department is part of Loudoun County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services. The station is located along Ashburn Road near Hay Road and the W&OD Trail.

The new facility is expected to open in the spring of 2011. Moorefield branched off from the Ashburn Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department.
