DESCRIPTION:Loudoun County offers eight collection events a year for resi
 dents to   dispose of materials from their homes such as left over chemi
 cals\,   fuels\, mercury thermometers\, pesticides and other potentially
  hazardous   substances that should not be included with regular househo
 ld garbage.\nTypical household hazardous wastes that will be accepted in
 clude  items  such as:\n\n fluorescent bulbs\nhousehold batteries\noil-b
 ased  paints/stains/varnishes\, paint thinners\nmetal polishes\nwood  pr
 eservatives\nfurniture polish\nwaxes\nbathroom\, kitchen and oven  clean
 ers\npool chemicals\nold fuels\, including gas/oil mixes\,  kerosene and
  diesel fuel\n\n Latex or water-based paints are not a hazardous waste a
 nd  can be dried  or solidified and disposed of in your household garbag
 e.  Other items NOT accepted at the events include:\n\nammunition or exp
 losives\nradioactive  materials\npharmaceuticals/medications\nhypodermic
  needles\nhousehold electronics such as computers and televisions \n\nMo
 tor oil\,  antifreeze\, automotive/lead acid batteries\, and  propane ta
 nks are not  accepted at HHW events\, but are accepted for  recycling at
  the Loudoun  County Solid Waste Management Facility at  21101 Evergreen
  Mills Road\,  Leesburg.\nThe Household Hazardous Waste Program is opera
 ted by the Loudoun  County  Department of Construction and Waste Managem
 ent. The collection  events  are available to Loudoun County residents o
