Special Fundraising Event for Northern Virginia AIDS Ministry (NOVAM)
A Night of Glamour & Giving
NOVAM Theatre Reception at Arena Stage
NOVAM is pleased to announce a very special evening of theatre with the Tony Award Winning production of The Normal Heart at the Arena Stage and a private reception at one Arena's signature spaces.
Please join us for this special performance on Thursday, July 12. NOVAM is the only Northern Virginia Agency having an event for The Normal Heart at Arena Stage.
This will be a high-profile event surrounding NOVAM's 25th anniversary year with a special limited engagement for the XIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS2012) hosted this year by Washington, DC in July. The Normal Heart is a must-see play about activism, family, awareness, and a mysterious disease that was claiming human lives in 1980’s New York City. Written by Larry Kramer, this production of the ground-breaking play has won Tony Awards for Best Revival, Best Featured Actor and Best Featured Actress.
All proceeds will benefit NOVAM and its work in the community.
Please note that NOVAM will NOT be hosting the Red Ribbon Gala and Silent Auction in the fall. Instead, The Normal Heart Performance and Reception will be our signature fundraising event for 2012.
About NOVAM:
Now in its 25 years, NOVAM, based in Falls Church, VA, is an independent, community-based non-profit organization that provides a variety of HIV prevention education programs and support services throughout Northern Virginia.

100 words: the event
NOVAM hosts a very special evening of theatre with the Tony Award Winning production of The Normal Heart at Arena Stage with a pre-show private reception for sponsors, special guests and friends. The evening at the theatre is a high-profile event for our 25th anniversary year with a special limited engagement in conjunction with the International AIDS Conference (AIDS2012). The Normal Heart is a play about activism, family, awareness, and a mysterious disease that was claiming human lives in 1980’s New York City. NOVAM is the only Northern Virginia Agency having an event for The Normal Heart at Arena Stage.
I am writing on behalf of the Northern Virginia AIDS Ministry (NOVAM), a nonprofit organization located in Falls Church, VA. For 25 years, NOVAM has been the regional leader in providing comprehensive, science-based HIV prevention education to youth aged 13–24 and services to low-income families and children living with HIV/AIDS.
Each year, NOVAM reaches over 10,000 youth through our prevention education programs, but that is not enough. Last year, youth continued to contract HIV and other sexually transmitted infections at an alarming rate—15% of new infections with HIV are in youth and young adults. AIDS in youth is a public health crisis and we need your help to stop it.
Each spring we have an online auction fundraising event: IMAGINE, which raises funds to support NOVAM’s HIV prevention programs and support services.
Donor names and items donated will be on NOVAM’s website and will be listed on our online auction catalog at www.biddingforgood.com/imagine with a link to your website. Additionally we will recognize your donation on our Facebook page. Last year our online auction raised over $9,000 to support NOVAM’s HIV prevention education and direct client services, and the site was visited 7,500 times! We hope the 2012 IMAGINE online auction will be even more successful, and we hope you will be a part of helping us reach our goal.
The auction opens on May 21 and closes on June 11. Our deadline for submitting an item to the auction is May 7. Donations may be mailed to our office in Falls Church or you may request a pick-up. All donations are tax-deductible as NOVAM is a 501(c)(3) organization.
