In an age where high school students spend more hours texting and on facebook, high school seniors in Loudon County are busy using the left sides of their brains to submit artwork into the Third Annual Loudoun County Public Schools & The Art Institute of Washington-Northern Virginia Student Senior Art Show.
“All of the participants in this show are creative thinkers and problem solvers who have contributed to our community by sharing their art,” said Melissa Pagano, Art Supervisor for Loudoun County Public Schools. “I hope that our student artists continue their journey in art, and allow themselves the opportunity to see things creatively from different perspectives everyday.”
There will be a gallery reception for the High School Senior Art Show at The Art Institute of Washington- Northern Virginia, a branch campus of The Art Institute of Atlanta, on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 6pm. All are welcome to the reception at no charge.
Gallery dates are March 2, 2012 through April 6, 2012.
“The Art Institute of Washington – Northern Virginia is proud to partner with the Loudon County schools on this event. Encouraging young artists is one way in which our school can serve the community,” said Gregg Crowe, Campus Director at The Art Institute of Washington-Northern Virginia
At the reception, members of the Loudoun Education Foundation will present The Loudoun Education Foundation Purchase Award of $500 to the winning artist. The first place winner will also win a $1,000 tuition scholarship to the Art Institute of Washington-Northern Virginia. The top three place winners will receive free admission into the Summer Studio program at The Art Institute of Washington-Northern Virginia.
