SpringHill Suites Ashburn Donates to Mobile Hope in Leesburg
The SpringHill Suites Ashburn Dulles North (located at the corner of Rte 7 and Loudoun County Parkway) found a home for a van full of pillows at Mobile Hope (www.mobilehopeloudoun.com) in Leesburg. General Manager Hannah Adlam and Assistant General Manager Scott Newman presented the gently used pillows to Donna Fortier, Director at the local organization.
"We are thrilled to be able to partner with Mobile Hope," said Adlam. "This will be the first of many donations to come. The cause is just too important and we are proud we can make a meaningful contribution."
The Mobile Hope program is designed to support the needs of precariously housed and at risk youth living in Loudoun County. As one of the richest counties in the country, it is easy to assume that Loudoun’s youth all have permanent homes and stable lives. Yet the 2012-2013 School year ended with 945 young students being identified as homeless or precariously housed by the McKinney-Vento program in Loudoun County Public Schools. 314 of these young people do not have a legal guardian or parent in their lives. They sleep in a variety of places including cars, in the woods, doubling up with other families, “couch surfing” among their friends or sleeping in shelters.
Mobile Hope is always in need of donations and volunteers. Check out their website to learn more about their immediate needs.
