While the Olympics just started, there was lots of ice skating excitement over the weekend at the US Eastern Synchronized Skating Championships, where for the first time an intermediate level team from Washington Figure Skating Club qualified to advance to the National Championships February 25 in Colorado Springs.
The Intermediate division is considered the most difficult because it has the largest numbers of teams competing for the fewest slots at Nationals. Team Ashburn's intermediate line came in 4 out of 14 excellent teams in a nail biter of a competition Saturday night. These 15 high school girls from Northern Virginia have been skating on average for 7 years each and have been working on this years program since the summer.
We field teams at many levels, and our auditions for next season start in March. More info can be found on our website: www.teamashburn.org.
