WEATHER UPDATE: Prepare for Wet, Slippery Commute Friday Morning

Freezing rainfall expected early could make driving more hazardous.

By Mary Ann Barton

The National Weather Service has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory for the region, including Loudoun County, in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday.

The NWS advisory notes that the area will see less than one-tenth of an inch of precipitation on the roads, ending by mid-morning. Temperatures will be below freezing until about 9 a.m. and untreated surfaces could be icy and slippery, particularly during the morning commute.

A Freezing Rain Advisory means that periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties.

The NWS cautions drivers to use caution while driving.
