Two $1 Million Lottery Tickets Purchased in Sterling

For the second time in just over a week, a winning Virginia Lottery ticket has been purchased in Sterling.

The first ticket was purchased in the Mega Millions drawing Friday, June 13, from the 7-Eleven at 46141 Woodshire Drive. The ticket matched the first five numbers and missed the Powerball number to win $1 million. A ticket holder in Michigan won the $66 million jackpot.

The second ticket was purchased in the Powerball drawing Saturday, June 21, from Getty Mart at 209 East Holly Avenue. The second ticket also matched the first five numbers to win $1 million. Neither ticket has been claimed.

The Virginia Lottery allows winners 180 days to claim their prizes and suggests winners sign the back of their tickets to claim ownership.

The odds of winning the $1 million prize in Powerball are 1 in 5,153,633. Odds of winning $1 million in Mega Millions are 1 in 18,492,204.
