Ashburn Brownies Reach Out to Newtown Daisies

The local troops participated in a nationwide showing of support for students and families at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Brownie Troop 4507 was among several Ashburn troops that participated in both a Snowflake drive and a Girl Scout Trefoil drive to support the children of Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT.

For the Snowflake drive, the girls cut out and decorated snowflakes of all shapes and sizes to send to Newtown as a way to honor all the Sandy Hook children and the memories of those who were killed. Of the 26 victims, 8 were Daisy Girl Scouts.

In solidarity with these fellow scouts, Girl Scouts from around the country wrote messages of hope and friendship on Girl Scout Trefoil shaped cards. These trefoils were sent to the affected Girl Scout Service Unit in Newtown to be presented during a memorial service for the Girl Scout Daisies and their families.
