Businesses Contribute to Sterling Volunteer Fire & Rescue

Firehouse Subs and Volkswagen each have show support for the community's public safety personnel.

On Tuesday, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation plans to present the Sterling Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad with equipment that will enable firefighters detect the body heat of people and hot spots inside burning structures.

The equipment, valued at $12,000, will help rescue personnel quickly locate people in distress.

Earlier this month, Volkswagen of America Inc. donated three Passats to Sterling Fire and Rescue. That contribution came as part Volkswagen’s donation of 190 vehicles to fire departments and learning institutions nationwide.
