Chesterbrook Students Release 1,500 Ladybugs

The Earth Day event was intended to show students the importance of community and exploring nature.

in Ashburn hosted a ladybug release April 20 in celebration of Earth Day, which was April 22. Pre-K students released approximately 1,500 ladybugs into our community. During the event students wore ladybug antennae created as part of their Earth Day studies. Students also sang songs and performed for their families.

A bake sale benefitted Walking on Water, a charity that teaches children about global water issues and raises funds to help solve these problems.

Throughout the week, students learned that ladybugs feed on aphids (plant lice) and other insects that are harmful to gardens, trees and shrubs. Chesterbrook Academy teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at a young age.
