This week you can escape into nature, air, water and off on your own with these activities.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK


Where/When: TODAY, July 18, at 7 p.m. and Cascades Library TODAY, July 18, at 2:30 p.m.
Why Go: Get your head in the clouds. Experience an amazing science show about the power of air in tornadoes, vacuums and hovercrafts. Fun for all ages.

Pricing: Free. Tickets are available 30 minutes before the program.

• BATTY ABOUT BATS!
Where/When: in Ashburn on Wednesday, July 20, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Why Go: Learn about nature’s only flying mammal and their important role in our ecosystem. Fun for ages 5 and older.
Pricing: Free

• A.V. SYMINGTON AQUATIC CENTER
Where/When: A.V. Symington Aquatic Center in Leesburg everyday from noon to 8 p.m.
Why Go: The relatively new Aquatic Center features arguably the biggest water theme park in our area. With a 600-foot lazy river, slide towers, 25-yard lap lane, body flumes, gang slides, a water pipe fall, “beach” area and spaces for tiny swimmers, this park is one of our best kept secrets.

• PARENTS’ ESCAPE NIGHT
Where/When: Sterling Community Center on Friday, July 22, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Why Go: The gym will be transformed into a moon bounce paradise for your kids, ages 2 to 12 (divided into separate age groups). Go have an adult night while your kids enjoy activities, games, crafts, movies and a pizza dinner.
Pricing: $11 per child

• FARMIN' FUN MUSEUM SUMMER CAMP
Where/When: Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum in Sterling, Monday, July 25, through Friday, July 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: Sign up now for next week’s Farmin’ Fun Museum Summer Camp. Your kids, ages 5 to 10, will learn about farm life through games, crafts and interactive programs. Every day of the camp will focus on a different theme and cover subjects such as animal care, gardening and cooking.
Pricing: $200
