Horse Rescued from Residential Pool in Philomont

Philmomont residents were surprised to find a horse going for a swim in their backyard pool Tuesday morning.

Homeowners in Philmomont found an equestrian guest taking a dip in their backyard pool Tuesday morning.

Loudoun County Fire-Rescue from station 608 in Philomont responded to a "public service" call at 36790 Jeb Stuart Road June 17 at 8:20 a.m. Upon arriving at the residence, the crew discovered a horse, who did not belong to the homeowners, had wandered into the yard and fallen through the pool cover. 

The crew called members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office and Department of Animal Services to assist with the rescue. Crews cut a path in the pool cover and lead the horse to safety.
