Local Caped Team to Participate in Dulles Day Plane Pull

Ashburn's Ask Gina & Company has recruited a team of superheroes for the annual event.

The annual Dulles Day Plane Pull always proves entertaining for the whole family, but one local business is trying to take the fun up a notch.

Ask Gina & Company, part of the Keller Williams Realty, for a second year will suit up in superhero costumes. This year, they’ll add a touch of style.

“We’re out of control,” Gina Tufano said, with a touch of sarcasm. “We like to give back where we live. And we like to have a lot of fun. They have a category called Most Enthusiastic and we thought we could do that.”

A year ago, the caped crusaders came close, but fell short of the goal.

“This year we have matching capes,” Tufano said, explaining one way she and her co-workers would up the ante. Also this year, Tufano said, the Ashburn-based real estate group is in contention for raising the most money.

“This year, we’re aiming for No. 1 in donations,” she said, explaining that there were in third place as of Tuesday afternoon.

Fetch, the mascot for the Loudoun Hounds, helped out a year ago, but this year the Hounds will have their own plane pull team. Olympian Matt McLean also can’t make it this year for Ask Gina & Company, but he’ll be there in spirit; he’s sending his Olympic gold medal.

Among this year’s team members for Ask Gina will be Special Olympian Matt Bulloch, who Tufano called “our super superhero.”

Leesburg Mayor Kristen Umstattd will also join the team. East consist of 25 people, up five from last year. The team hopes to lure the Chick-fil-A cow to its side. And while there are plenty of friends and family to fill any empty spaces, there were three spots available as of Wednesday. For contact information, check out the Ask Gina website.

The event, which raises money for the Special Olympics, will also features a morning 5K and a Kids Truck Pull.

The team will give away an iPad mini and invites the community to join them after the pull at The Vee Eatery & Brew House.

The 5K begins at 7:30 a.m., while the rest of the day runs from 11 a.m. to noon.
