Ashburn's Nghia Nguyn had two reasons to hope his numbers paid off in a recent Cash 5 drawing, according to Virginia Lottery officials.

Nguyn had played the same numbers twice: 7-11-14-19-29. So, after the numbers won the Feb. 18 drawing, he won $200,000, instead of the standard $100,000 top prize.

The chances of winning the jackpot is 1 in 278,256.

“I was calm,” Nguyn said. “I couldn’t believe it. I was pretty happy.”

He bought the tickets at an Exxon at 44680 Wellfleet Drive in Ashburn, using numbers he selected at random, according to the lottery.

"Mr. Nguyen, who works in information technology, said he intends to save his winnings," lottery officials noted in a statement.
