Here’s this week’s list of fun-filled events for the family.

This week’s activities feature movies indoors and out, giant insects and American Idol!

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK


Where/When: on Monday, July 25, at 7 p.m. and Cascades Library on Monday, July 25, at 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: Meet real, giant toads, snakes, cockroaches, tarantulas and more. Kids of all ages will learn how helpful and fascinating these creepy creatures really are.
Pricing: Free. Tickets are available 30 minutes before the program.


Where/When: Cobb Theater in Village at Leesburg (near the Leesburg Wegmans), Tuesday through Thursday, July 26-28, at 10 a.m.
Why Go: Beat the heat and break in the area’s newest movie theater. Cobb Theater will feature a free kids show every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning. Enjoy Yogi Bear this week.
Pricing: Free. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.


Where/When: Loudoun County Fairgrounds in Leesburg on Wednesday, July 27, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Why Go: The Loudoun County Fair, running from July 25 - 30, features attractions, carnival rides, animal exhibits, vendors and crafts. Be sure to stop by Wednesday for a fun-filled day of donkeys, fire fighter training, BMX bike shows, horses and lots more.
Pricing: Weekly pass: $25 for adults, $10 for kids ages 6 to 12, free for kids under 6. Daily pass: $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6 to 12, free for kids under 6. Children under 15 are free on Children’s Day until 4 p.m.


Where/When: Lakes Recreation Center Outdoor Amphitheater in Ashburn on Friday, July 29, at 8:20 p.m.
Why Go: The rain and dangerous heat are supposed to be over by Friday. Bring blankets and settle the family down for a viewing of Rango outside.
Pricing: Free


Where/When: in Ashburn, Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 5, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: Sign up now for next week’s “Be a Pop Singer” camp. Let your fledgling stars (ages 6 to 12) have a week full of real training. Topics covered include voice basics, warm-ups, stage presence, dance moves and audition techniques for the American Idol Show. The group will perform at the end of the week.
