Sample a Taste of Greece in Ashburn this Weekend

The annual event provides a cultural immersion, and great Greek food.

The 5th annual Taste of Greece is set for this weekend at the Ashburn Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department's station, 20688 Ashburn Road, in Old Ashburn.

Free admission and free parking make it easy to drop by Friday through Sunday to see what’s going on, but be prepared for a crowd. Every year, the Greek Orthodox Parish of Loudoun County fills Founder’s Hall at the first station with food, music and lots of dancing.

And while the junior and senior dance troupes will each perform multiple times throughout the weekend, there are four opportunities to learn to a Greek dance (see attached dance schedule). The accompanying video was made during the January 2011 Taste of Greece.

Want to sample the goods without leaving your car? Try the curbside pickup service by calling 571-246-0926 or 571-246-2403.

I've been to this event for the last couple of years and it is well worth your visit. The food is very good and the demonstrations of Greek dancing and culture are interesting. You should stop by if you can find the time.

I dropped in Saturday night for a greek salad and chicken souvlaki sandwich. All very tasty. Founders Hall was packed. Plan to bring my family Sunday afternoon.
