2012 “Nutcracker in a Shell – All Jazzed Up” Auditions

The 14th Annual Nutcracker in a Shell – All Jazzed Up! Staff proudly announces our 2012 Cast Auditions! Directed by local gem, Geralyn Ward, this jazzy, shortened version of the "Nutcracker" performed by children for children from our Creative Dance Center studios in Chantilly, Ashburn and South Riding introduces younger audiences to the tradition of Nutcracker. Our Nutcracker has become a Loudoun County winter holiday must-see community event, and, in 2011, was selected as one of the ten "Best Family Friendly Activities in the Washington, DC, Region" performance weekend by the esteemed National Children's Museum.

We are looking for dancers from all areas of dance - ballet, jazz, tap & gymnastics for this upbeat version of the classic Nutcracker. You may and are encouraged to audition for more than one part, and all dancers who audition will be included in the production.

Dancers who attend should arrive in appropriate dance attire with hair in a bun and bring all styles of current dance shoes - jazz, ballet, tap, pointe, and hip hop. Auditions and rehearsals will be held at Creative Dance Center in Ashburn, 44710 Cape Court, #126. Interested audition participants must call (703) 724-4900 to reserve a space.

1:00PM to 3:00PM on Sunday, June 10th, 2012

• 1:00PM to 1:30PM for ages 4 to 6
• 1:30PM to 2:15PM for ages 6 to 9
• 2:15PM to 3:00PM for ages 10 and up

10:00AM to 12:00PM on Saturday, August 18th, 2012

• 10:00AM to 10:30AM for ages 4 to 6
• 10:30AM to 11:15AM for ages 6 to 9
• 11:15AM to 12:00PM for ages 10 and up

Rehearsals will be conducted from 3:00PM to 6:00PM every Saturday from September through mid November. Youth cast members will also attend a 4 to 5 day choreographic camp in late August for 3 hours per day – official dates and times to be announced at a later date. Also, all cast members are required to take any Fall 2012 recreational class at any of our Creative Dance Center Studios to be included.
