Weekend Bluegrass Concert Series

BILL EMERSON & SWEET DIXIE in concert. Bill Emerson has been a banjo virtuoso since 1957 and was a founding member of The Country Gentlemen, played with Jimmy Martin and was the founder of the U.S. Navy Country Current Band. He was inducted into the Virginia Folk Music Association Hall of Fame in 1984, the SPBGMA Preservation Hall of Greats in 2000 and the Washington Area Music Awards Hall of Fame in 2006. Bill formed his current band, SWEET DIXIE, a few years ago, which now features Wayne Lanham (mandolin, fiddle, vocals), Terri Chism (upright bass, vocals) and Chris Stifel (guitar, vocals). Their latest CD, "Southern," was #1 on BMP's national top 10 bluegrass CDs list as well as in Cashbox Magazines top 10 bluegrass CDs in 2010.
