Thanksgiving is over and other than holiday shopping, decorating and baking, December can be a laid-back month for a lot of people as work winds down and the holidays loom on the horizon. This weekend there are plenty of family-friendly movies to entice movie-goers.

Hugo — A young orphan living in a Paris train station uncovers a mystery that jeopardizes his secretive way of life in this Martin Scorsese-directed adaptation of Brian Selznick's stunning children's book. Where to see it: 

The Muppets — On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways. Where to see it:

Happy Feet Two — The sequel to 'Happy Feet,' the Academy Award-winning animated smash hit, 'Happy Feet Two' returns audiences to the magnificent landscape of Antarctica in superb 3D. Where to see it: 

The Twilight Saga: Beaking Dawn-Part 1 — In the next chapter of the Twilight saga, Bella and Edward face the ramifications of marriage, honeymoon, pregnancy and a tumultuous chilbirth which brings about a shocking development for Jacob. Where to see it:

A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas — After years of growing apart, Harold and Kumar have replaced each other with new friends and are preparing for their respective Yuletide celebrations.
