Jazz It Up for Messiah's Market

Loudoun Symphony concert benefits The Community Church's food bank.

The Loudoun Symphony Orchestra will perform a benefit concert, , at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 14, to help support the Messiah’s Market Food Bank Project.

Messiah’s Market, operated by The Community Church in Ashburn, has offered free food to anyone in need for more than a decade. The organization plans to expand its facilities, which would enable its volunteers to offer fresh meat and refrigerated food, which equate to better nutritional choices for families in need.

The church has the orchestra to use its auditorium at the Virginia Academy this season.

The Jazz It Up show features the music of Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Leonard Bernstein and appearances by several guest artists: pianist Daniel Lau will perform Ellington’s New World A Coming; local soprano Madeleine Curtis will be singing Satin Doll and the Loudoun Ballet Tango Dancers will perform to Anderson’s Blue Tango. The up-tempo, jazzy selections should make the show fun for the whole family.

Adult and senior tickets cost $25; children under 18 are admitted for free. Tickets can be purchased at www.loudounsymphony.org. All proceeds go to Messiah’s Market.
