Get 'All Jazzed Up' with the 'Nutcracker' in Ashburn

The Institute of Performing Arts for Youth will put on its version of the holiday classic this weekend only at Broad Run High School.

Kick off the holiday season with the Institute of Performing Arts for Youth’s (IPAY) at this weekend only. IPAY students from Ashburn and Chantilly perform in the child-friendly production, which is a shortened version of The Nutcracker.

Geralyn Ward directs the performance – in its 13th year – which is designed to introduce younger audiences into the Nutcracker story.

Eighty-five children from Loudoun and Fairfax counties have been cast in the show, including the cast:

  • Clara – Erin Mattimiro, Maddie Kim, and Audrey Cooke
  • The Nutcracker Prince – Devyn Shibla returns in his 5th appearance
  • Sugar Plum Fairy – Lauren Est, Stephanie Cox and Emily Galzerano

The Institute of Performing Arts for Youth is a nonprofit children’s arts organization that provides instructional dance services and programs to families in Northern Virginia. The organization aims to create wholesome, fun and entertainment readily accessible to families throughout the community.

Performances begin at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20. Tickets cost $12 for adults and $8 for children under 12 or seniors 55 and over. Tickets may be purchased online.
