Loudoun’s Got Talent! Auditions May 5 at Stone Bridge

The annual contest invites the county's young musicians to showcase their talents.

Today, April 27, is the last day to register to audition for the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra’s 2012 Loudoun’s Got Talent! Contest, which gives young musicians in the county an opportunity to compete with other musicians for cash prizes.

Auditions are set for Saturday, May 5, at , with the Top Ten Finalist Concert scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at Franklin Park Arts Center. Musicians wishing to participate must register online at www.loudounsymphony.org and download a contest brochure and rules. Call 703.771.8287 or email admin@loudounsymhony.org with questions.
“We are very excited to once again produce the Loudoun’s Got Talent! event this year and look forward to another large response from young Loudoun musicians,” said Ara Bagdasarian, president of Loudoun Symphony Orchestra Board.
The high-school aged participants compete for $1,750 in scholarship awards. A panel of judges selects ten finalists during the initial round of auditions. Those ten finalists then compete in the May 27 Finalist Showcase concert for the following awards:

  • First Place—A $1,000 scholarship and a chance to perform live during a Loudoun Symphony concert
  • Second Place—A $500 scholarship
  • Third Place—A $250 scholarship
  • Winners also will be announced to the local media

Amateur instrumental or vocal performers, ages 14-18, who reside or attend school in Loudoun can audition. Individual performers only, may audition, no groups. Contestants must perform an instrumental or vocal piece no longer than five minutes in length, with or without an accompanist. Online registration requires a $25 fee.
