Pickwick Players Present 'The Unsinkable Molly Brown'

Upbeat family musical about the Titanic opens Nov. 30

Starting this weekend, theater-goers can enjoy a local performance of the lively, spirited musical “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” at Belmont Ridge Middle School.

Performed by the a Loudoun County-based theater group that produces several show each year, the cast includes 40 children and adults.  It is choreographed by Donna Russell.  Gary Younce is the musical director and Michele Reynolds is the director.

The show commemorates the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

"This is a lighthearted and fun musical for everyone in the family,” said Valerie Irons, Pickwick Players Board Member.  “The songs are upbeat and there are some very funny scenes,” Irons added.

"The Unsinkable Molly Brown” is the story of a strong, determined woman who learned how to follow her dreams.  The story starts with her impoverished beginnings in the backwoods of Hannibal, Missouri, to the palaces of Europe. Along the way, she marries a lucky prospector, enters the highest echelons of Monte Carlo society, survives the sinking of the Titanic and, most importantly, earns the approval she so desperately seeks of those “Beautiful People of Denver.”

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7 and Dec. 8.
