Piedmont Arts Center Presents The Who's Tommy

The musical opens Thursday night at the Franklin Park Arts Center in Purcellville.

The Piedmont Arts Foundation's production of The Who's Tommy will open on Thursday night.

This production is part of the foundation's Summer Stage 2013 program, directed by Glen Hochkeppel with Musical Director Willis Rosenfeld.

According to a posting by the Piedmont Arts Foundation on Patch, 
Tommy
 was the first musical work to be billed overtly as a rock opera, composed by Pete Townshend and released in 1969. In 1998, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame for "historical, artistic and significant value". It tells the tale tale of a young boy’s journey from pain to triumph.

Please note that this musical contains language and themes that may not be appropriate for children younger than 13.

The show will take place at the Franklin Park Arts Center in Purcellville, starting Thursday night at 8 p.m. Additional presentations are as follows:
Friday and Saturday, July 12 and 13, 8 p.m.
Sunday, July 14, 3 p.m.
