- New home sales in the region jumped 10% from 2012 to 2013, according to Dan Fulton, senior vice president of John Burns Real Estate Consulting.
- 13,277 permits for single-family homes were issued in the region in 2013 – about a 21% increase from 2012.
- New home sales in the D.C. metro are expected to increase 15% this year, according to Fulton.
Though an increase in new home construction has been seen across the District and its suburbs, Fulton said that Northern Virginia in particular should be expecting new home sales to increase this year. More specifically, Loudoun County continues to be an increasingly popular area for new home construction, as evidenced by the increase in building permits issued in recent years. Last year, there were 3,541 building permits issued in Loudoun County, according to information from the Census. This represents an 18% increase from 2012, and is much higher than the 1,468 permits issued in 2008.
While there are many reasons why Loudoun County is so popular with homebuyers, the incredible communities in the area certainly play a part.
